Lightweight, durable, high-performance: composite expertise

At Ligier Automotive, we control the entire composite manufacturing chain—from model creation to mold making, all the way to final part production—thanks to dedicated facilities, advanced processes, and a highly skilled team.

Our composites department operates across four specialized rooms, each adapted to different manufacturing techniques. All production is managed through our computer-aided production system (CAPM) to ensure quality, traceability, and responsiveness.

Model fabrication

We produce various types of models based on your prototyping or production needs:

- Handcrafted models: built from technical drawings or sectional views, with a high-quality primed and polished finish.

- Machined masters: made from Prolab 65 or Lab 975 New modeling boards, machined from CATIA files using a 4-axis milling center for optimal precision.

Polyester mold manufacturing

We produce polyester molds in line with industry standards:

- Polyester and vinylester gelcoats, applied by spray gun or brush, depending on the application.

- Laminating with polyester or vinylester resin and fiberglass, applied by contact molding.

- Mold thickness is adjusted according to the client's technical specifications.

    Composite part manufacturing

We offer a wide range of composite manufacturing methods tailored to technical requirements and production volumes:

    - Polyester or epoxy parts: contact or vacuum molding using various fabrics (carbon, glass, aramid/Kevlar), with integrated PU foams or nida cores.

    - Prepreg processing: cured under vacuum in an oven (up to 180°C) or in an autoclave (up to 200°C and 10 bars).

    - Vacuum infusion for complex and optimized components.

    - RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) for semi-series production.

    - Controlled curing in ovens or autoclaves, depending on materials and thermal requirements.

    Epoxy mold manufacturing

Our epoxy molds are designed to withstand high-temperature production cycles:

    - Use of epoxy gelcoats and resins, with curing temperatures ranging from 100°C to 150°C.

    - Reinforced with glass or carbon fibers, applied by hand layup or vacuum bagging.

    - Production of prepreg carbon/epoxy molds, cured in an autoclave for maximum dimensional stability.

      End-to-end production control

Thanks to our Computer-Aided Production Management (CAPM) system, every stage is carefully planned, tracked, and documented to ensure consistent quality and compliance with timelines and specifications.

Whether for one-off parts, small production runs, or highly technical components, Ligier Automotive brings its composite expertise to serve innovation, performance, and reliability.
