European Le Mans Series: The Ligier JS P325 triumphed at Silverstone with CLX Motorsport and delivered a historic first ELMS title

The third generation of Ligier LMP3, the JS P325 — which made its competition debut in April 2025 — is already establishing itself as the benchmark in the category with another dominant on-track performance. The Ligier JS P325 #17 of CLX Motorsport, driven by Paul Lanchère, Adrien Closmenil, and Theodor Jensen, takes its fourth victory of the season and secures both the LMP3 Teams' and Drivers' titles, with one round still to go. This success marks the first championship crown for the new Ligier JS P325, Ligier's fourth consecutive LMP3 title in the European Le Mans Series, and its ninth since joining the category in 2016. The podium is all Ligier, completed by the JS P325 #68 of MRacing and the #35 of Ultimate.

Free practice and qualifying

From the free practice sessions, several Ligier JS P325s featured at the sharp end of the timesheets, confirming the potential of the new LMP3 generation. The #15 of RLR MSport and the #17 of CLX Motorsport consistently remained among the fastest. In qualifying, held on a drying track, Theodor Jensen (#17 CLX Motorsport) and Gillian Henrion (#15 RLR MSport) battled for pole position until the final moments, placing their cars in the top three. The #11 Eurointernational Ligier secured fourth thanks to Ian Aguilera.

A tense, rain-hit race

On Sunday, fans witnessed a thrilling, incident-packed race marked by rain showers. Shortly after the start, several collisions occurred, including one involving the #31 Racing Spirit of Leman Ligier JS P325 and the #8 Team Virage Ligier JS P325 with a GT, which triggered the first Virtual Safety Car of the day. Twenty minutes later, the race resumed but was soon red flagged following a GT3 crash. At the restart, an LMP3 competitor stopped on track, and another high-speed incident involving the #15 RLR MSport Ligier prompted another neutralization.

Once again, the lost time was restored, and the race went back to green. The #68 MRacing Ligier JS P325, driven by Stéphane Tribaudini, fended off challenges from Paul Lanchère in the #17 CLX Motorsport Ligier and Fabien Michal in the #11 Eurointernational Ligier. After two hours, heavy rain hit the track and reshuffled the order. Drivers switched to wet tires, and several were caught out. CLX Motorsport opted to delay its pit stop to the maximum, allowing Adrien Closmenil to seize the lead ahead of the #35 Ultimate Ligier driven by Jean-Baptiste Lahaye.

With thirty minutes remaining, Theodor Jensen in the #17 Ligier JS P325 built a 17-second gap over the rest of the LMP3 field, followed by Quentin Antonel in the #68 MRacing Ligier. Another neutralization was called after a left-rear tire failure on an LMP2. The race restarted for a 13-minute sprint, only to be stopped again with ten minutes to go due to torrential rain.

CLX Motorsport crowned 2025 ELMS LMP3 Champion

The #17 CLX Motorsport Ligier JS P325, with Paul Lanchère, Adrien Closmenil, and Theodor Jensen, was declared the winner with a 63-second margin. The team claimed its fourth victory in five races and secured the 2025 LMP3 Team and Driver titles. The #68 MRacing Ligier JS P325, driven by Stéphane Tribaudini and Quentin Antonel, finished second, ahead of the #35 Ultimate Ligier JS P325 shared by Louis Stern and brothers Matthieu and Jean-Baptiste Lahaye.

A historic success for Ligier JS P325 and for Ligier

This first championship for the Ligier JS P325 confirmed the outstanding performance of the new generation in its debut season. It enriched Ligier's record in the European Le Mans Series, with a fourth consecutive LMP3 crown and a ninth title since 2016. A new milestone illustrating the French brand's consistency and competitiveness in the LMP3 category.

The 2025 European Le Mans Series finale would take place in Portimão on Saturday, October 18.
