Jules Roussel won the inaugural FIA F4 World Cup in Macao
The Guia circuit, one of the most demanding tracks in the world with its 6.12 kilometers of tight corners and high-speed sections, was the setting for a historic moment on the weekend of 15 November 2025: Jules Roussel's victory in the very first FIA F4 World Cup. Facing eighteen of the best international drivers of the 2025 season, including seven national champions, the Frenchman delivered a masterful performance that marked a new milestone in his young career.
On the strength of his 2025 season in French F4 with the FFSA Academy, which he finished in third place overall, Roussel arrived in Macao with solid experience behind the wheel of the Ligier JS F422. A mastery that proved decisive on such a technical and tricky circuit.
An intense weekend from start to finish
The nineteen Ligier JS F422 cars entered kept the action alive in every stage of the event — free practice, qualifying, the qualifying race, and the grand finale — delivering a show worthy of the occasion..
The final race lived up to all expectations. Roussel engaged in a thrilling duel with his compatriot Rayan Caretti, the two drivers swapped the lead several times. Caretti eventually made a mistake, caused a red flag, which froze the positions until the finish. Roussel crossed the line in first place under the safety car.
Behind him, Italy's Emanuele Olivieri secured second place, while Japan's Rintaro Sato, who also competed in French F4 this season, pulled off a spectacular charge from eleventh on the grid to complete the podium.
A display of control and consistency
Between daring maneuvers, pressure management and successive twists and turns, the drivers demonstrated the full potential of the Ligier JS F422 on a circuit renowned for its difficulty. Strong and consistent from the first lap to the last, Roussel described his victory as “the best race of [his] life,” underlining how significant this success was in his rise to the higher categories of motorsport.
A strong signal for young driver development
This first edition of the FIA F4 World Cup also highlighted the importance of the development pathway built around the second-generation Formula 4 car designed by the Ligier Automotive group.
Among the nineteen participants, nine were already building or refining their experience behind the wheel of the Ligier JS F422 in FIA-certified national championships.
An additional recognition for a single-seater that continues to prove, race after race, its reliability, its performance, and its ability to meet the demands of international competition.
