Historic Sport Race Mitty 2025: Ligier Prototypes Shine at Road Atlanta.

From April 25 to 27, 2025, the iconic Road Atlanta circuit hosted one of the most anticipated events on the American historic racing scene: the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Mitty. This edition once again highlighted the passion for prototype racing, with a rich and varied field and three intense races—two sprints and one endurance event. Ligier prototypes made headlines, with Sean Rayhall bouncing back after a crash to return to competition, and Hudson Historics' Ligier JS P320s claiming both first and second in the LMP3 class of the Enduro Race. CB Motorsports rounded out the class podium with a Ligier JS P3.

A Diverse and Competitive Field

The HSR Mitty 2025 brought together a rich and varied lineup of prototypes, with Ligier leading the field with 10 LMP3 (6 Ligier JS P320 and 4 Ligier JS P3). It also featured other race car manufacturer such as Dallara, Oreca, Coyote and Norma.

The three races delivered high-paced action, featuring tight battles and standout performances across the board. While the sprint races highlighted outright speed, the endurance event tested consistency, strategy, and mechanical reliability.

Sean Rayhall: From Crash to Comeback

A highlight of the weekend was the remarkable story of Sean Rayhall in the #14 Ligier JS P320. After a crash on Thursday, Rayhall and his team managed to rebuild the car overnight, getting him back on track the very next day. A true act of perseverance that was widely praised by both the paddock and spectators.

Class Wins and Podiums for Ligier Teams in the HSR Prototype Challenge Enduro

Third overall and first in the LMP3 class went to Bob Neapole and Guy Cosmo in the #47 Hudson Historics Ligier JS P320. They topped the largest class in the race, which featured nine entries, and shared the LMP3 podium with teammates John Reisman and Eric Curran in the #74 sister car.

The #18 CB Motorsports Ligier JS P3, driven by Matt Forbush and Caleb Bacon, delivered a solid performance to complete the LMP3 class podium and secure a top-five finish overall.

"That was a lot of fun. It should be illegal to have that much fun. This format with the HSR Prototype Challenge is just a blast. It gives you variety, it gives you the option for pit strategy, and you can get a little crafty. You can take chances and do several things with your race, and there's plenty of driving time for each driver. Bob did a great job in his first stint. The car was great, I got to do what I love to do most in life, and today it rewarded us." — Guy Cosmo, Driver – #47 Hudson Historics Ligier JS P320

Looking Ahead

Next up for the HSR Prototype Challenge presented by Michelin is Round 3 of the 2025 championship at Watkins Glen International, taking place from June 12 to 14.
