IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge: Victory and podiums for the Ligier JS P320 in Canada!
Canada was the destination for the third round of the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge on 7 - 9 July! The Performance Tech Motorsports team had a positive weekend with #38 winning race 1 and #7 coming home third in race 2. The #3 Jr III Racing Ligier JS P320, in second place in the championship standings, clinched both pole positions and finished second in the two races.
• On Friday 7th July, Jonathan Woolridge in the #38 Ligier JS P320 entered by Performance Tech Motorsports posted the fastest time in the first free practice session in 1:14.088s. Later on, Bijoy Garg in #3 run by Jr III Racing emerged quickest in the second one in a time of 1:14.420s.
• Qualifying rounded off the day. Jr III Racing's #3 added a second double pole position to its results in the IMSA VP Sportscar Challenge as Garg dialled in the fastest laps in 1:13.157s followed by a 1:13.543s to top the time sheets for both races.
• Performance Tech Motorsports' #38 Ligier JS P320 won the first sprint race and also set the fastest lap in 1:14.088s. Jr III's #3 saw the flag in second place.
• The #3 Ligier JS P320 added another podium finish to its season with another second-place finish in race 2 setting the fastest lap in 1:14.033s. It was followed home by Performance Tech Motorsports' #7 driven by Alex Kirby.
• The #3 Ligier JS P320 in second place in the championship is closing the gap to the leader and is now just 50 points behind.
The next round of the championship will take place on the Virginia International Raceway on 25 - 27 August.
