Ligier Automotive at the Hydrogen Business for Climate Forum: a strengthening hydrogen momentum
On December 4, 2025, Ligier Automotive was in Belfort for the Hydrogen Business for Climate Forum, organized by the Pole Véhicule du Future, of which the company is an active member. The event brought together industrial players, experts and institutional stakeholders around a shared objective: identifying hydrogen markets that are already accessible, as well as those that are emerging.
The Ligier JS2 RH2, developed in partnership with Bosch Engineering, was displayed at the heart of the forum, illustrating the maturity of hydrogen technology applied to high-performance mobility.
Ligier Automotive was represented by its COO, Richard Tur, who was invited to take part in the round table discussion “Which markets can be addressed right now?”, alongside stakeholders from hydrogen storage, hydrogen mobility and data center solutions, providing a cross-sector perspective on current uses and opportunities.
A strategic vision to accelerate hydrogen development
During the round table, Richard Tur underlined that the energy transition requires a pragmatic approach: innovating without giving up what defines the identity of motorsport.
“We are convinced that motorsport must take part in the energy transition without renouncing what makes its DNA: sensations, emotion and performance. Hydrogen allows us to combine decarbonization with driving pleasure, while preparing the future of a sector that represents 20,000 jobs and nearly €3 billion in France.”
The Ligier JS2 RH2, a demonstrator that gives credibility to the technology
The presence of the vehicle in Belfort added a concrete dimension to the discussions. Resulting from the joint engineering work of Ligier Automotive and Bosch Engineering, the Ligier JS2 RH2 demonstrated that hydrogen applied to motorsport is now an operational reality, and a relevant experimental platform for uses that go beyond the strict framework of competition: local mobility, light logistics, training, or professional solutions requiring both autonomy and fast refueling.
Developed in just eight months and tested under extreme conditions, the car illustrated the responsiveness of motorsport and the role Ligier Automotive can play in the development of this technology:
“The speed at which we developed an operational demonstrator proves our strength. Motorsport is an agile laboratory, capable of delivering concrete answers to technological challenges,” he added.
A growing commitment
Ligier Automotive's presence at the Belfort forum was part of a particularly active year centered on hydrogen:
-First participation in Hyvolution in January,
-Presence at the Hydrogen Village during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with several demonstration laps of the Ligier JS2 RH2 on the iconic circuit,
-A major hydrogen convention was held in Magny-Cours in November, co-organized with Bosch Engineering and the Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit, which laid the foundations for a future dedicated center of excellence (Read the article HERE).
In Belfort, Richard Tur reiterated the ambition behind this project currently under development: to create a place dedicated to testing, experimentation, training and innovation in support of hydrogen mobility.
“To meet tomorrow's needs, we need playgrounds capable of hosting innovation.”
By taking part in this forum, Ligier Automotive confirmed a clear trajectory: making hydrogen a major strategic focus, serving both high-performance mobility and broader professional uses. This momentum will continue at the end of January 2026, with the presence of the company and its partner Bosch Engineering at the Hyvolution trade show in Paris.
