Prototype Cup Germany: The Ligier JS P320 Shone at the Nürburgring with a Double Victory and the Drivers’ Title.
Two intense races of the Prototype Cup Germany took place on August 9–10, 2025, at the Nürburgring. The Ligier JS P320 once again came out on top, with Konrad Motorsport securing back-to-back victories with Danny Soufi and Pavel Lefterov, sealing the Drivers' title before the end of the season.
Soufi and Lefterov Triumphed in Race 1
Danny Soufi (22, USA) and Pavel Lefterov (27, BUL), at the wheel of the Konrad Motorsport Ligier JS P320, won the ninth race of the season and strengthened their lead in the championship.
“ After the pit stop I was second and had to put my foot down, in order to close the gap to Riccardo in the lead” recalled Pavel Lefterov. Once he caught the slipstream of his rival, the Bulgarian made a decisive move. “Pavel's manoeuvre was really courageous” added Soufi, impressed by his teammate.
The Crowning Moment: Konrad Motorsport Clinched the Title in Race 2
The following day, the #2 Konrad Motorsport Ligier JS P320 triumphed again. Pavel Lefterov made an excellent start and held the lead before handing the car over to his teammate. Danny Soufi crossed the finish line as the winner and sealed the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany Drivers' title, with races still left to run.
“ I am happy and also relieved to have done it here, after yesterday's victory had brought us so close” said Danny Soufi.
Pavel Lefterov also celebrated his first LMP3 crown: “ It is obviously special to be crowned champion in my first season in the LMP3 class. The team always provided us with a great car and Danny was the perfect team-mate for me. He is fast and we also get along very well as people”
Two Champions with Different but Complementary Backgrounds
Danny Soufi and Pavel Lefterov became the first American and Bulgarian drivers crowned in the Prototype Cup Germany. They deliberately chose to clinch the title at the Nürburgring, a symbolic circuit for their team: “We wanted to wrap it up at the Nürburgring because that is one of our team principal Franz Konrad's home events, and our engineer Michael Rowe,” explained Pavel Lefterov. Danny Soufi added: “This means that we can now travel to Austria without any pressure and, best of all, really enjoy being there.”
Their journey toward this title illustrated their complementarity.
- Danny Soufi, from Texas, started very young at the wheel of a Mazda MX-5, collecting victories and titles in regional championships before discovering Europe and the Prototype Cup Germany in 2022. Junior Champion in 2024, he was now continuing his climb toward the top of endurance racing.
- Pavel Lefterov, with experience in karting, GT4, and even an SP8 class win at the 2019 Nürburgring 24 Hours, discovered the LMP3 world this season. Called up at the last minute for Spa, he impressed right away alongside Danny Soufi, already scoring a podium and a victory.
Their relationship was built on trust and the absence of internal rivalry. Team boss Franz Konrad summed it up: “Danny really is the more cautious, quieter one of the two of them, while Pavel is more aggressive and more uncompromising in the car. […] However, we were a great team overall and I am very proud of that”
On to the Red Bull Ring to End the Season in Style
The title is already secured for Danny Soufi and Pavel Lefterov, but the Prototype Cup Germany had not yet had its final word. The finale at the Red Bull Ring, to take place on September 12-14 in Austria, will offer another opportunity for the Ligier JS P320 to shine and wrap up an already emotion-packed season.
