X-GT4 Italy: LR Motorsport Crowned Cup Champion with the Ligier JS2 R #81 of Andrea Frizza at Misano
The fifth and final round of the X-GT4 Italy took place from November 14 to 16, 2025, at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. LR Motorsport, which fielded two Ligier JS2 R entries, the #81 and the #3, continued its rise and delivered another major achievement. Thanks to a solid and well-managed weekend, LR Motorsport and Andrea Frizza finished overall vice-champions, secured the Cup class title, and confirmed once again the competitiveness of the Ligier JS2 R against strong opposition. The team also claimed the runner-up title in the Cup class with its second crew, composed of Jacopo Mazza and Manuel Quondamcarlo.
Pole Position and Overall Podium in Race 1
For this highly anticipated finale, Andrea Frizza immediately found the pace. The Italian driver put his Ligier JS2 R on overall pole position for Race 1. During the race, he fought at the front and crossed the line in second in the overall standings while winning his category. This performance proved to decisive result in the battle for the titles.
Another Cup Win in Race 2 and the Title Secured
The momentum continued in Race 2. Frizza delivered another strong performance and finished third overall while scoring a new victory in the Cup class. This success sealed the 2025 Cup crown, giving LR Motorsport a major title and concluding a season marked by seven wins.
With two victories, six podiums, and two overall pole positions, he finished vice-champion of the X-GT4 Italy.
“Everything started in 2024 when I saw the Ligier JS P4 on display at Misano. It was definitely love at first sight. Talking to Simone, he introduced me to the Ligier JS2 R that he was racing and winning in X-GT4. I liked the team and its programs, so I decided to join them in 2025.
I immediately fit in well, and we won on our debut at Mugello. The Ligier showed great race pace and remained strong in any situation. Although we skipped one race, we still managed to take second place overall and first in our category in the championship.
The Ligier proved to be the better car from a structural standpoint. Despite having less horsepower, I was able to stay ahead of the GT4s thanks to a better chassis and lower weight. The Ligier is a true racing car that rewards the driver's skill. I want to thank the team for providing perfect mechanical assistance — never a single breakdown — and the V-Action Racing Team for their support. Can't wait for 2026.”
A Cup Class 1–2 Finish for LR Motorsport
The crew of the Ligier JS2 R #3, driven by Jacopo Mazza and Manuel Quondamcarlo, finished just shy of the overall podium in both races. They secured the Cup vice-championship, giving LR Motorsport a historic 1–2 sweep in the standings.
“We couldn't have ended the season any better. Our guys were simply exceptional and carried the colors of both our team and the Ligier brand to the top. Andrea fought like a lion to try and win the overall classification, but we knew full well that our primary goal was the Cup category. Second place overall is still a source of enormous pride. Manuel and Jacopo finally got what they deserved: two races and two excellent performances. The overall podium was definitely within their reach.”
A 2025 Season Confirming the Potential of the Ligier JS2 R
