24H SERIES: Second win in a row for the Ligier JS2 R of Les Deux Arbres

January 22, 2022 - Second win for the #202 Ligier JS2 R of Les Deux Arbres. After Dubai last week, the GT car repeated the feat and took another class win in the Abu Dhabi 6 Hours. The #202 crossed the line seven laps ahead of its nearest class competitor, finishing eleventh overall.

After its victory in Dubai the week before, the #202 Les Deux Arbres Ligier JS2 R, this time driven by Christophe Bouchut and Hugo Valente, was back in the Abu Dhabi 6 Hours, the second round of the 24H SERIES. Two 2022 newcomers joined them: the #215 SKR Racing Ligier JS2 R with Franck Eburderie, Franco Lemma, Jérôme Dacosta and Franck Lavergne on board, and the #217 PCR Sport Ligier JS2 R with Harriet Arruabarrena, Juan Andújar and Jacobo García.

On January 21, the #202 Les Deux Arbres Ligier JS2 R topped free practice with its best lap of 2:09.830s. Later in the day, it was the fastest car in the second qualifying session with a time of 2:03.906s. But as the team was unable to participate to the first session, it missed out on pole.

A great comeback for the #202 Ligier JS2 R

Starting from the back of the grid, the #202 Ligier JS2 R made a great comeback from sixth to second place in its class during the first hour. It then opened up a gap of more than 30 seconds over its competitor in third place and was getting closer to the class leader. Two hours after the start of the race, the #202 was in first place with a two-lap lead. As in Dubai, the blue-white-and-red GT continued to maintain the gap until it crossed the finishing line. For the second time in a row, it won its class. It also finished eleventh in the general classification.

The #217  Ligier JS2 R of the Spanish team PCR Sport was short on luck. After occupying the second place three hours into the race, it was involved in a collision with a competitor the following hour. The damage was too extensive and the team was forced to retire. The #215 SKR Racing Ligier JS2 R  finished sixth in the class.

The next race of the 24H SERIES will take place in Italy for the 12 Hours of Mugello on March 25.
