24H SERIES: the Ligier JS2 R finishes second of the TCXs in the 12 Hours of Spa
22 - 24 April 2022 – The fourth round of the 24H SERIES took place on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. On their first outing in the championship, the Belgian Xwift Racing team scored a great second place in the TCX category with their #221 Ligier JS2 R in the 12-hour race.
The start of the 12 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps was given at 12:25 on Saturday 23rd April. The #221 Ligier JS2 R entered by Belgian team Xwift Racing driven by Pieter Denys, Tim de Borle and Steven Dewulf started the race in third position in the TCX category. The team decided to make their first pit stop after 1h 40m racing when the French GT was in the lead in its category.
Twenty minutes after the driver change, damage to one of the tyres caused collateral damages to the car. Two additional stops were necessary to carry out repairs on the GT, which then rejoined for its final stint. After 5h 30m racing, the first part of the race was flagged off: #221 was fourth in its category.
Xwift Racing clinches second place on the TCX podium
The second part of the round began the next day in the late morning. After 1h 20m racing the #221 Ligier JS2 R stopped at its pit for a driver change when it was lying third in the TCX category. Thanks to consistent flawless stints the GT moved up a place in the classification. After 218 laps the #221 finished in second place on the TCX podium of the 12 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. A very encouraging result for Xwift Racing which was competing for the first time in the championship after experiencing an eventful first part of the race!
The team and their #221 Ligier JS2 R will again take up the challenge of the 24H SERIES on the forthcoming 13 - 15 May in the 12 Hours of Hockenheim.
