24H SERIES – Victory for the Ligier JS2 R in the TCX category in the 12 Hours of Paul Ricard
23 - 24 April 2021 – Last weekend, the third round of the 24H SERIES took place on the Paul Ricard circuit in France. The Nordschleife Racing team chose this event to make its return to the championship with its Ligier JS2 R in what was a difficult race for the French outfit. The JS2 R was hit twice and it lost almost two hours at its pit for repairs preventing it from fighting for a place on the Touring Cars category podium. Despite these incidents it still finished first in the TCX class.
The #226 Nordschleife Racing Ligier JS2 R driven by Guillaume Roman, Daniel Waszczinski and Thierry Chkondali was back racing in the 24H SERIES on the Le Castellet circuit in the 12 Hours of Paul Ricard.
The start of the 12 Hours was given at 10:00 on Saturday 24 April. The #226 Ligier JS2 R lined up in eighth place in the Touring Cars category and was fighting its way up through the pack when its momentum was brutally halted. After around three-and-a-half-hours racing the #226 Ligier JS2 R was rear-ended by a GT3. The result was considerable damage and the car was immobilised at its pit for over an hour. The team was dealt another blow at the half-distance mark when the Ligier was hit for the second time. The result was another extended pit stop and Nordschleife Racing saw its hopes of a podium finish in TCR shattered.
Despite these two incidents, the #226 Nordschleife Racing Ligier JS2 R took the chequered flag and finished the 12 Hours of Paul Ricard in first place in the TCX category and fifth in the Touring Cars classification.
