ALMS: COOL Racing and CD Sport dominate the opening races at Sepang!

After two seasons' absence Malaysia was back on the Asian Le Mans Series calendar. The Ligier JS P320s went at it hammer and tongs on the Sepang circuit for the first time on Saturday and Sunday 2nd and 3rd December. #17 entered by COOL Racing won race 1 while CD Sport's #2 emerged victorious in race 2.

• This year five Ligier JS P320s are entered for the Asian Le Mans Series.

• It was the reigning JS P4 champion in the Ligier European Series Mihnea Stefan's first weekend's racing in the Ligier JS P320.

• On Friday 1st December, the #2 Ligier JS P320 run by CD Sport (Michael Jensen, Nick Adcock and Fabien Lavergne) set the fastest times in the two free practice sessions in 2:00.930s in the first one and 2:00.235s in the second.

• The next day #20 entered by High Class Racing (Audunn Gudmundsson, Anders Fjordbach and Seth Lucas) clinched a double pole position after posting the two quickest laps in the LMP3 category in 2:00.430s and 2:00.756s respectively.

• The start of the first race was given later on in the day and it was won by COOL Racing's #17 (James Winslow, Alex Bukhantsov and Danial Frost) from #2 entered by CD Sport and Bretton Racing's #26 (Dan Skocdopole, Julien Gerbi and Mihnea Stefan).

• Victory in the second race held on Sunday, also of four hours' duration, went to CD Sport's #2, which finished on the topmost step of the podium followed by Bretton Racing's # 26 in second place and COOL Racing's #17 in third.

• #2 entered by CD Sport leads the championship with 43 points from COOL Racing's #17 with 40 points.

• The next race in the Asian Le Mans Series will take place in Dubai on 4th February 2024.
