A Ligier JS P3 wins at Sebring

IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda, round 2, Sebring – 14-16 March 2018

After ANSA Motorsports' victory at Daytona in January, a Ligier JS P3 run by Charles Wicht Racing won at Sebring in the second round of the IMSA Prototype Challenge. The Extreme Speed Motorsports Ligier JS P3 saw the flag in third place.

The 1h 45mn race on the bumpy Sebring circuit was marked by several incidents including a long Full Course Yellow neutralisation. The #7 Ligier JS P3 entered by Charles Wicht Racing took the chequered flag with more than five seconds in hand over the #47 Norma M30 run by Forty 7 Motorsports. Even though starting from last LM P3 place the #26 K2R Motorsports Ligier JS P3 finished fourth followed by the #17 and #42 P1 Motorsports Ligier JS P3s.

Young driver Pato O'Ward at the wheel of the victorious #7 Ligier JS P3 set the fastest lap in the race in 1m58.343sec on the 30th of the 45 laps, six-tenths-of-a-second quicker than the second driver Anthony Simone in the #74 Norma M30.

This weekend the 14 Ligier JS P3 on the grid out of the 18 LM P3s entered for the race confirmed the interest of American teams in the French constructor's sports prototype.

The next round for the teams in the IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda will be at Barber on 19 – 22 April.
