Double podium for the Ligier JS P320s in Império Endurance Brasil in Cascavel!
On 21 October 2023, the Ligier JS P320s once again scored a double podium in the Império Endurance Brasil at the Cascavel Autódromo International. After a flawless race, #9 run by A. Mattheis Motorsport and BTZ Motorsport's #117 finished second and third respectively. With two more events still to go, #117 retains the overall lead in the championship.
• Saturday, 21 October: the #9 A. Mattheis Motorsport Ligier JS P320 (Marcos Gomez and Xandinho Negrão) started from fifth place on the grid. After an accident in qualifying, #117 entered by BTZ Motorsport (Gaetano Di Mauro and Andre Moraes Jr) set off from the back of the field.
• At the start, #117 went pedal to the metal and quickly climbed up to ninth spot. Up front, #9 gained a place and found itself lying fourth.
• Despite the pit stops, the two LMP3s kept up the pace and remained almost constantly in the top 5. #9 found itself among the leaders on several occasions in second and then third place. It was the same story for #117.
• With an hour of the race still to go, #9 took first place and #117 was third. But later on, a pit stop caused A. Mattheis Motorsport's car to lose the lead. However, the team clinched a good second place on the podium ahead of BTZ Motorsport's #117.
• BTZ Motorsport's #117 still leads the overall classification in the championship with 540 points.
The penultimate race of the Império Endurance Brasil will take place on 11 November at the Velopark.
