July 16 - 18, 2021 - More than two dozen Ligier JS F4s competed at the Brainerd International Raceway for the fourth round of the F4 U.S. Championship. Nico Christodoulou (Velocity Racing Development) added a second win to his tally by winning race 1. Mac Clark (Gonella Racing) won race 2, while newcomer Bryson Morris (Crosslink / Kiwi Motorspot) won race 3.
The weekend kicked off on Friday with the first free practice session, which ended with Bijoy Garg (#6, Jay Howard Driver Development) leading the way with a time of 1:31.515s. Newcomer in the championship, Bryson Morris in the #39 Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4 set the fastest time in the second session in 1:30.145s.
On Saturday, it was time for qualifying. Nico Christodoulou (#22, Velocity Racing Development) secured the top spot thanks to his fastest lap time of 1:30.338s. He was followed by another Canadian, Mac Clark (#26, Gonella Racing), 0.039 seconds ahead of the championship leader Noel Leon (#19, DEForce Racing).
Already victorious in the last round at Mid-Ohio and visibly in great shape, Nico Christodoulou continued by winning the first race of the weekend. For the first time in the championship history, it was a 100 % Canadian podium. Alongside the driver of the #22 Ligier JS F4 were Mac Clark and Louka St-Jean (#98 ICAR).
Mac Clark took victory during race 2, his fourth since the start of the season. His compatriot Nico Christodoulou was second on the podium, followed by Bryson Morris.
The last race of the weekend took place on Sunday. At the front of the field, the battle between Mac Clark and Nico Christodoulou turned into a drama when they made contact and spun. This was the opportunity for Bryson Morris to take his first victory of the season in his first F4 U.S. Championship weekend.
The next round of the championship will take place at the VIRginia International Raceway on September 24-26.
