Konrad Motorsport takes first LMP3 Prototype Winter Series title.
The final round of the inaugural Prototype Winter Series (PTWS) season took place at the Barcelona circuit in Spain on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March 2024, when severe weather forced the organisers to cancel the first race on the Saturday. Thanks to their lead in the provisional standings, Konrad Motorsport clinched the championship's first LMP3 title with their #7 Ligier JS P320 driven by Danny Soufi, even before the final Sunday race. The German team and twenty-year-old Texan ended the season in a fine second place on Sunday ahead of Inter Europol's #88 Ligier JS P320.
- The Ligier teams arrive at the Barcelona circuit in confident mood, with three teams in contention for the LMP3 title: Konrad Motorsport (36.435 points), Rinaldi Racing (25.225 points) and ANS Motorsport (24.89 points).
- But nothing went according to plan. On Saturday, torrential rain forced the organisers to cancel the first race of the meeting. With the second race still to come on Sunday, the comfortable lead built up by Konrad Motorsport and Danny Soufi throughout the season enabled them to be crowned team and driver champions on the Saturday, the first in this brand new PTWS championship. It was a fine reward for the German team, which was making its debut with the Ligier JS P320 after having raced a rival chassis in other championships.
- Sunday was back to normal with a dry track and sunshine for the championship finale. Konrad Motorsport started from pole position with Danny Soufi at the wheel.
- Just before the opening of the pit-stop window, a Full Course Yellow caused by an LMP3 running off the track disrupted the teams' strategy. The race resumed with 30 minutes on the clock.
- Danny Soufi and Konrad Motorsport finished second ahead of Inter Europol's #88 Ligier JS P320 crew of Rik Koen and Sebastian Gravlund. “It was a tight race, right down to the end,” said inaugural PTWS champion Soufi. “Unfortunately tyre degradation got us, […]. But it was a good race, I had fun and a massive thank you to Konrad Motorsport. We ended up securing the teams' and drivers' championships this weekend, so great job.”
- Julien Lemoine and Clément Moreno finished fifth in the #42 ANS Motorsport Ligier. This result enabled the two drivers to claim the runner-up spot in the drivers' standings ahead of Steve Parrow and Daniel Keilwitz, the drivers of the #88 Rinaldi Racing Ligier JS P320. In the team standings, however, Rinaldi Racing had the upper hand and finished the season as runner-up with 40.235 points, behind Konrad Motorsport and its 44.295 points.
