The Ligier JS2 R is on to discover new playing fields
21-22 September 2019, the Ligier JS2 R made its debuts at the 500 Nocturnes on the Anneau du Rhin track in France, a new playing field for her. Two teams – AB Sport Auto and Pegasus Racing – participated to this regional event. It was a successful first for the Ligier JS2 R which finished third overall with Pegasus Racing. And the Ligier JS2 R isn't stopping there: it will roll out for the first time in Ultimate Cup Series on Saturday 28 September at Valence in Spain.
500 Nocturnes, 500 kms at night on the Anneau du Rhin track. A great programme for the Ligier JS2 R! Two French teams embarked on this adventure: AB Sport Auto with Jorge Domingues and Julien de Miguel at the wheel and Pegasus Racing with Julien Schell and David Caussanel onboard.
There was a varied 22-car field with among others Renault RS01, Lamborghini Huracan ou Gallardo, Caterham and the Ligier JS2 Rs. For the race, the Pegasus Racing Ligier JS2 R was shod with slick tyres and equipped with a lights kit to drive at night.The team put in a strong performance and finished third overall.
“It was a great race, commented Julien Schell, Pegasus Racing's Driver and Team Owner. Since its launch in 2015, I never missed an event! This year we decided to do this race with the Ligier JS2 R in addition to the Ligier JS Cup France. The Ligier JS2 R reacted well. Once more it demonstrated its performance and reliability by offering us a superb third place. I look forward to getting back behind the wheel this weekend in Ledenon.”
AB Sport Auto Ligier JS2 R finished eighth overall.
The teams will be back with their Ligier JS2 Rs this weekend on two different playing fields. Pegasus Racing is heading off to the Ledenon track for the sixth race of the Ligier JS Cup France with 2h of free practice, 1h45 of qualifying, and 3h30 of racing, concentrated on Friday and Saturday morning.
AB Sport Auto is taking its Ligier JS2 R to its first Ultimate Cup Series race. Its Ligier JS2 R will be entered in the UGTC category of the GT Endurance field with 3h of free practice, 1h of qualifying and 4h of racing on the Valence track in Spain.
The Ligier JS2 Rs' owners hold some great trumps to enjoy varied sporting programmes with: the Ligier JS Cup France, the single-type series dedicated to the Ligier JS2 R which already had more than 27 cars, the Ligier European Series which will start at the heart of the European Le Mans Series in 2020 with Ligier JS P4s and JS2 Rs, the 24H SERIES, the Ultimate Cup Series and other national races in which they are eligible.
