A fleet of 38 Ligier JS F4s breaks World FIA F4 entry record for USGP finale

The F4 U.S Championship will max out the grid for the finale of the season during the United States Grand Prix Nov. 1-3 with thirty-eight Ligier JS F4s hitting the Circuit of The Americas. For Joshua Car, crowned F4 U.S Champion during the penultimate round at Sebring, this event will be even more special: he will receive his brand-new Ligier JS F3 to climb the ladder of the motorsport world and run next year in the F3 Americas championship!

The finale of the F4 U.S. Championships featuring the Honda-powered Ligier JS F4s equipped with Hankook Tires is on this weekend at the Circuit of The Americas during the USGP finale. 38 Ligier JS F4s are expected for this exciting event, breaking the international FIA F4 single-event entry record, set until then by ADAC F4 Germany in 2016 with 37 entries.

Last season, the F4 U.S had already scored the highest average international F4 grid with 33 Ligier JS F4s per event! “It is truly exciting to see such an historic field. It confirms the FIA's vision for the Formula 4 model. Since the F4 U.S. Championship inception the interest and growth has been exceptional” says Max Crawford, CEO of Ligier Automotive North America.

Drivers representing 10 countries and 12 states will tackle the last two rounds of the F4 U.S. Championships. All the Ligier JS F4s will be outfitted with “THANK YOU CHARLIE” decals in tribute to Charlie Whiting who was instrumental in developing the F4 program and instituting F4 U.S. on the F1 USGP schedule in 2017.

For sure, tension will run high during the weekend with the F4 drivers sharing the same track as their F1 idols. Crosslink Competition's driver Joshua Car has sealed the championship title three rounds early but the decisions for second and third place will go down-to-the wire at the doubleheader finale. Francisco Porto and Christian Brooks are just a few points away from each other while Jose Blanco and Arthur Leist could well sweep in to steal the third spot!

The F4 US drivers will face new competition with drivers from various motorsport's disciplines filling the F4 U.S. COTA roster. The race will surely turn into a thriller.

As crowned champion, Joshua Car will receive during the weekend his brand-new Ligier JS F3 to run in the F3 Americas with Crosslink Competition next year.

“It was a huge feeling that I felt when I first saw the car. I couldn't believe that I was actually going to be racing the Ligier JS F3 formula car. It has been a long journey, but thanks to Patrick Flynn, I have been able to move up the motorsport ladder due to his passion and generosity. I wake up everyday thinking about the first time I am able to drive this car and cannot wait to drive this beast on the limit. I want to thank Ligier, Honda & the SCCA for the amazing opportunity to move to F3 Americas. I am extremely excited to tackle this new challenge with the Crosslink Team in 2020!” says Joshua Car.
