FR Americas: Callum Hedge takes the lead after a flawless performance at Road America!
The second round of the FR Americas Championship took place at Road America in Wisconsin on 18 - 21 May. New Zealander Callum Hedge in the #17 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3 was incontestably the fastest driver over the weekend. Pole positions, fastest laps in the races and victories: nothing escaped the domination of the #17 car over its 11 rivals.
• Friday 19th May, Callum Hedge in the #17 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3 posted the fastest time in free practice with a lap in 2:03.898s.
• Hedge continued his momentum in the #17 single-seater and led race 1 from start to finish. “It was a pretty long, pretty physical race,” Hedge said after climbing from the car. “In a car like this, these 35-minute races are longer than I'm used to”
• On Sunday 21st May the #17 Ligier JS F3 dominated again and won the second race of the weekend.
• Later on the same day, Hedge brought his weekend's domination to a close by clinching his third victory of the meeting (and the fourth of the season in six races). “I didn't come here expecting to have the perfect weekend,” said Hedge after the race. “The guys that I'm racing against are very, very good. I raced Ryan [Shehan] back in New Zealand and he was pretty competitive. It's really cool to come away with a perfect weekend—fastest in all the sessions and all the races, and I also got the championship lead. I can't complain about that.”
The next round will be held on 22 - 25 June on the Mid-Ohio track.
