IMSA VP Racing: Double pole and double victory for the Ligier JS P320 at Daytona

19 – 21 January 2024 – A great start in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge! In the first racing weekend at Daytona (during the ROAR), the Ligier teams set the fastest times in free practice and went on to clinch a double pole position and the double victory, as well as several podium places with their Ligier JS P320s.

• 10 Ligier JS P320s took part in the first round of the championship.

• On Friday 19th January, the #51 Ligier JS P320 of Rick Ware Racing with Ave Motorsports (Cody Ware) was fastest in free practice 1 in 1:45.978s, ahead of five other Ligiers.

• In the early afternoon, MLT Motorsports' #6 (Steven Aghakhani) came out on top in session 2 with a time of 1:44.825s.

• #6 kept up its momentum and scored a double pole position on Saturday 20th January. The LMP3 set the best lap (1:43.361s) and the best second lap (1:43.536s) of the session.

• The Ligiers scored excellent results in the first race of the season. #6 took the win with #7 run by Performance Tech Motorsports (Alex Kirby) finishing second while #51 run by Rick Ware Racing with Ave Motorsports came home third.

• On Sunday, Steven Aghakhani again took the chequered flag in first place with #6. Escuderia ABRO #23 (Miguel Villagomez ) crossed the finish line in third spot.

“Not doing any driving for all of 2023 and coming back to the first race of the season at Daytona in a brand-new car with a new team, and here we are winning it. I think it's absolutely amazing,” said Steven Aghakhani. “It's a really good feeling.”

The next race weekend will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida on 8-10 March.
