Ligier teams on the podium in the new IMSA championship

20 - 22 January - Six Ligier JS P320s inaugurated the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, the new IMSA Championship, on the Daytona International Speedway. The results of this first meeting comprising two races were: a pole position for #3 entered by Jr III Racing and three podiums, two for the US RaceTronics #77 and another for Jr III Racing's #3.

• The VP Racing SportsCar Challenge is a championship that brings together sports prototypes and GTs in two 45-minute sprint races.

• Bijoy Garg (#3 Jr III Racing) clinched pole position for race 1 with the fastest lap in a time of 1:43.091s.

• Race 1 podium: #77 run by US RaceTronics (Brian Thienes) finished second and Jr III Racing's #3 third as well as setting the fastest lap in the race in 1:45.094s.

• Race 2 podium: second place on the bounce for US RaceTronics' #77.

The second round of the championship will take place at Sebring on 11 - 12 March.
