The 2022 season of the Ligier JS Cup France kicks off at Le Mans

1 – 2 April 2022 – The first race of the 2022 season of the Ligier JS Cup France took place this weekend on the 4,185 km Le Mans Bugatti circuit. In weather conditions varying from sun to showers of melted snow, 23 Ligier JS2 Rs roared off on Saturday morning for the 6-hour race won by #9 entered by Orhès Racing.

PRO-AM CATEGORY

The #48 Ligier JS2 R run by the LADC team clinched pole position with the fastest lap in 1:41.278s. #10 entered by Zosh – Di Environnement and LADC's #70 completed the leading trio in qualifying.

Battle raged for the top 3 places during the race. The lead changed hands on several occasions between #10 Zosh – Di Environnement, LADC's #70, the #9 JS2 R run by Orhès – LBA Group and 2M Promotion's #2.

Victory in the first race of the season went to the #9 Ligier JS2 R driven by Olivier Pernaut and Julien Fébreau (driver and commentator on F1 for Canal +). Into second place came #70 in the hands of Paul Cocaign, Thierry Petit and Grégory Servais. And on the third step of the podium was the crew of #2, Mickael Mota and Stéphane Adler.

Julien Febreau: “I'm delighted to have become part of the Orhès team and to have got to grips with the Ligier JS2 R again. Thanks to the work done by the team we were able to up our game while remaining consistent. My team-mate Olivier Pernaut was very quick and our engineer Pierre designed a great strategy. All these factors helped us to win the race! Pleasure on the track and in the paddock. Thanks again Olivier!”

AM CATEGORY

The front row consisted of the #17 Orhès Match Compétition Ligier JS2 R and #35 run by Ultimate. Zosh GDI's#3 completed the top 3.

The drivers in the #93 Zosh Ligier JS2 R put on a flawless display. Raphael Deschamps, Luis Marques and Julien Rodrigues led the category throughout the 6 hours taking the chequered flag in first place. Following them were Franck Dallavalle and Michael Da Costa at the wheel of the #18 Orhès Sambms Bma Ligier. Into third completing the AM podium came the crew of #19 run by No Limit Racing with Franck Dezoteux and Gael Castelli behind the wheel.

Julien Rodrigues: “A great feeling with this new car and the new team that did a great deal of work beforehand and today it's paid off! Already we can't wait to be at the next race to score another victory!”

Rendezvous on 15 & 16 April on the Dijon-Prenois circuit for the second round of the Ligier JS Cup France.
