First race of the F4 U.S. Championship in homage to Andrew Scriven

This weekend saw the start of the 2018 F4 U.S. Championship in Virginia with 33 Ligier JS F4s. Two free practices, one qualifying session and three races of 30 minutes were scheduled throughout the weekend. For this first race of the year, the drivers and teams paid tribute to Andy Scriven, the chief designer/creator of the Ligier JS F4, who sadly passed away during winter.

For the first round, the Danish drivers Benjamin Pedersen of Global Racing Group and Christian Rasmussen of Jay Howard Driver Development fought hard for the first place. Pedersen stole the lead from Rasmussen on the final lap. Rasmussen finished 0.122 seconds away, with Dakota Dickerson DC Autosport/Cape Motorsports taking third. The English James Raven of DEForce Racing also delivered thrilling action: last on the starting grid due to a late arrival on the pre-grid, he made up 10 positions in the first lap and finished in seventh position.

Rasmussen finished first for the second round, followed by Dickerson and Teddy Wilson of Jay Howard Driver Development. For the third and final round, Rasmussen kept the lead. He was joined on the podium by Wilson and Dickerson.

The next round of the F4 U.S. Championship will be held on 10-12 May 2018 on the Road Atlanta circuit.
