FR Americas: The TJ Speed Motorsports Ligier JS F3s excel at Road America!
21 - 22 May 2022 – The second round of the FR Americas championship took place on the Road America circuit in Wisconsin. TJ Speed Motorsports and its three Ligier JS F3s put on a flawless display dominating free practice, qualifying and the weekend's three races! In the third heat the Australian team filled all three places on the podium!
Friday 20th May - Raoul Hyman in the #27 TJ Speed Motorsports Ligier JS F3 set the fastest time in free practice in 2m 14.729s.
The TJ Speed Motorsports driver improved his time by 10 seconds the next day in qualifying. He clinched pole position for the first race of the weekend thanks to his quickest lap in 2m 04.098s almost one second quicker than his closest rival, Nico Christodoulou (#22, Velocity Racing Development).
Raoul Hyman scores his second victory of the season
The first race kicked off in the afternoon. Despite a hectic start and a yellow flag Hyman in his #27 Ligier JS F3 held on to the lead although he came under heavy pressure from Dylan Tavella in the #14 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsports entry. Finally, #27 scored its second win of the season by 12 seconds.
“It wasn't easy; it definitely wasn't easy,” said Raoul Hyman after the race. “I'm really happy to come away with a win. I can't take any of the credit; the team has done an amazing job. The pace we've had all weekend but I can't do that if they don't put in the work and do an amazing job in terms of the setup”

Jason Alder on the topmost step of the podium in race 2
Sunday 22nd May – Just when it looked like Raoul Hyman in the #27 Ligier JS F3 had victory sewn up in the race he spun two laps before the finish. Thanks to his confortable lead he was still able to claim second place, but lost out on victory to his team-mate Jason Alder in the sister #77 Ligier JS F3.
“It was definitely a tricky race for sure,” said Alder, third in the F4 U.S Championship in 2021. “It was very up and down. Sometimes it was looking really good, sometimes maybe not so much. We had a little bit of contact in Turn 1 on that restart that made us lose a position or two. Fortunately, we were able to come back up to the front, and when the opportunity presented itself, we were there to take advantage of that.”

Race 3: TJ Speed Motorsports monopolises the podium!
The #27 Ligier JS F3 that started from pole position gave its rivals no quarter. Raoul Hyman racked up his third victory of the season with a dominant display followed by his two team-mates Jason Alder in #77 and Nick Persing at the wheel of #29. The weekend ended on a high note for the TJ Speed Motorsports team, which left Road America with three victories, a podium triple and still in the lead in the championship with Hyman in first place.
“I'm really happy, and to have all the guys up here, I mean everyone was working really hard on Nick [Persing's] car right until we had to go,” Hyman said as he took his place at the top of the podium. “We finally put a smile on Tim's [Neff, team owner] face. I'm really happy with that. I'd like to thank the boys, they've done a great job. Honestly, they have really put together three amazing packages.”
