F4 U.S. Championship: fourth round in New Jersey

Between 29 and 30 July, 23 Ligier JS F4s went at it hammer and tongs in the fourth round of the F4 U.S. Championship. Titus Sherlock and Alex Berg each scored their first victory (race 1 for the former and race 3 for the latter) while Michael Costello added a third win to his tally in race 2.

• On Friday 28th July, Patrick Woods - Tooth in the #27 Ligier JS F4 (Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport) set the fastest time in free practice in 1:24.678s.

• The following day, Jesse Lacey in the #16 Ligier JS F4 (Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport) clinched pole position for race 1 with the quickest lap in 1:24.095s.

Race 1

• Later on in the day, Titus Sherlock in the #31 Ligier JS F4 (Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport) scored his first victory of the season, although he crossed the finishing line in third position. Following time penalties applied to his rivals who came home first and second, he was promoted to first place.

Race 2

• Starting from pole position, Michael Costello in the #19 Ligier JS F4 (Jay Howard Driver Development) won his third race of the season in the second heat of the weekend on Sunday 30th

• “It feels awesome,” said Costello. “I mean, just to be able to win at my home track and have my family here—there's nothing like it.

Race 3

• After a penalty which cost him victory in race 1, Alex Berg in the #08 Ligier JS F4 (Doran Motorsports Group) took first place in race 3 scoring his maiden victory in the F4 US Championship!

• “I am extremely happy with this result today,” said Berg. “I started on the pole. We had a safety car restart, and I dropped down to second for a couple corners, but I was able to come back up to first. (...) It's definitely a weekend to remember.”

Now it's time for a summer break for the F4 US Championship and its drivers. The restart is scheduled for 5th October at the Virginia International Raceway .
