The Ligier teams snap up all the 2022 LMP3 titles!
What a season it's been for the French constructor and all the teams that have put their trust in its car, the Ligier JS P320! The latter have clinched the LMP3 titles in all the championships run in the four corners of the world in 2022 offering Ligier Automotive seven LMP3 titles! The competition was fierce, but the Ligier teams gave their rivals no quarter. Seven of them, of five different nationalities, shared the laurels.
Asian Le Mans Series: CD Sport
In February, the CD Sport team flying the Spanish flag won the first LMP3 title of the 2022 season in the Asian Le Mans Series' second campaign held in the United Arab Emirates. Thanks to this LMP3 title CD Sport was awarded an invitation for its first 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2022 with a Ligier JS P217.
Michelin Le Mans Cup: Racing Spirit of Léman
Swiss outfit Racing Spirit of Léman clinched the LMP3 title in the LMC in the second-last round held on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on 25th September. Scoring two victories and two podium finishes it succeeded Nielsen Racing crowned in 2021.
European Le Mans Series: COOL Racing
While the French constructor was assured of the LMP3 title in the ELMS since Spa-Francorchamps, it had to wait until the final in Portimão on 16th October to discover the name of the winning Ligier team. Finally, COOL Racing with six pole positions and two victories got the better of Polish outfit, Inter Europol Competition. It was a fitting reward for the Swiss squad that had missed out on the 2021 title by just a single point!
IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship: CORE Autosport
With two victories and a podium American team CORE Autosport bagged the IMSA WSCC LMP3 title after fighting off another Ligier squad, Riley Motorsports, champion in 2021.
IMSA Prototype Challenge: Wulver Racing
Wulver Racing emerged victorious inheriting the crown of the 2021 winner, MLT Motorsports. The American team gave little away to its rivals racking up four victories and a second place in the five rounds of the championship!
Prototype Cup Germany: Toksport WRT
German team Toksport WRT put on the best performance in the first year of this new championship. It scored three victories and a second place offering the first LMP3 title of this German Championship to the French constructor at the final round on the Hockenheimring on 23rd October.
Ultimate Cup Series: Graff Racing
French squad Graff Racing sealed the last LMP3 title of the 2022 season in the final on the Le Castellet circuit on 13th November thanks to its six pole positions, four victories and two podiums.
